Our Story
“It all began on a camping trip. I had been hiking all day, and wanted nothing more than to wash my face before eating by the fire under the stars. My bar of soap was slimy from the day before, and had leaked into my duffle bag. So I reached for my backup face wipes, which left my skin feeling irritated and greasy. I thought, skincare while camping HAS to be better than this!
So I got to work. I began sketching ideas of what outdoors skincare would look like. It had to be non-toxic, first and foremost, because duh. But it also had to be lightweight and convenient. I believe deeply in “leave no trace” and I wanted to make a face wash for myself that aligned with my values. One day, after doing a load of laundry with waterless powder detergent, a lightbulb went off in my head. Take the water out of face wash, make it a powder, and put it in plastic-free packaging. That’s when Wild Thing was born.”
